As you may already know April is Prevent Cruelty to Animals Month sponsored by ASPCA. We are supporting them by doing posts about animals in need and by wearing orange to show our support!
Today we are featuring some special friends of ours from Full Moon Farm in Black Mountain, NC. This wonderful place rescues and provides a forever home for abandoned and abused wolfdogs - dogs that have been bred with wolves. There are just a few shelters in the US that are set up to take them and this is one of the best.
Pearl is the official greeter and lives there along with several other cats. |
Banjo likes to sit on the roof of his house. |
They have been having a hard time in this lately in this down economy and could use some extra help and support. The have 17 acres of private wooded land to house all the beautiful wolfdogs. They are a 501 (c)3 wolfdog rescue and sanctuary founded in 2002. In the past 8 years they have rescued over 400 wolfdogs and evaluated or transported over 175, as they would have been euthanized.
Once a month they host a Howl-in where folks can tour the grounds and enjoy a potluck supper next to a roaring fire pit. Mom went to this and met the great bunch of people who run the sanctuary and of course the wolfdogs. If you would like to read more about them visit Mom's other blog and read her post. Please do check out Full Moon Farm's website and Facebook page.
