Happy 4th and Staying Cool!


Darby here and all of us wish all our stateside friends a Happy 4th of July!

It has been a hot week for us and our younger white cats are housed in a separate building with a screen porch but no AC. They are in the shade and built into the hillside so stay pretty cool normally but with the temps in the upper 90s Pop had to help us stay cool.


We like to sit on the floor and keep cool. Pop hoses down the screen so the air blowing in cools us off. He also wets his hands with cool water and runs them over us - at first we didn't like it but it does feel good after a few times.

Then Mom got the idea to fill a plastic tub with a few inches of cold water and ice cubes for us to play (and get cool in).  Only and Two Spot liked it.

    Happy 4th of July friends!!!

    It's been a scorching summer here with record high temps and very little rain. Our air conditioner is ancient and will have to be replaced but wow this is not the time to be without! So every morning when I wake up and it's still working, I take a second to give a little thanks :-)

    What a great Dad you have. M said she never thought of running a pan of cold waster with ice in it, although she does put an ice cube in my water fountain. I guess that's kind of the same.

    We just stay in as much shade as we can find. It had been rough. Course the lucky kitties that stay in the house have the AC. So far we are all right. Happy 4th of July to all of you.

    What a neat idea. Except we don't like ice cubes or getting wet. But we sure would like to get cool.

    Those are some great ideas for staying cool, kittehs! We think Moosey would like getting that ice with Only and Two Spot.

    We're just staying indoors and being kind of lethargic. :)

    We love the idea of ice cube toys! You have a really cool dad.

    We has been really cold up here in BC (Canada) we had the coldest June on record. Today it has been wonderful, me hopes we is finally getting summer. So me has been laying on my heating pad to keeps warm!

    Happy Fourth of July! You have a clever Mom and Dad. We keep cool by lying in the breezeway between the kitchen and living room and by staying in spots that never get sun. Mom puts ice cubes in our water dish when it really gets hot.

    How nice the kitties get some assistance to stay cool! My two like the water in their drinking bowl and that is it :)

    Hi sweethearts. Always a pleasure to see you.

    I am an indoor only girl so mom has kept us cool (as long as the power doesn't go off!) so all is well here. We heard big 4th of July booms last night so I stayed close to mom.

    Those are good ideas to stay cool this summer! Today was our hottest day of the year so far and it got to 85 so we stayed by the magic cool air vents!

    Playing with ice cubes and spraying water are good ways for cooling. Our human has started to hang up pots of plants in addition to extra mopping of tile floors to help us cool off. Purrs!
