Love - Snowball loving on his Pop. |
We want to thank you all for your kind words, cards and messages about our sweet Yoko. Mom is still getting back to everyone to thank them personally.
Snowball is our model today and he has been having some rough times. A few days after we lost Yoko, he became obstructed and we had to bring him to the vet for enemas. He did real well with all the procedures and finally hours later got down to business only to become blocked again a few days later. Back to the vet again on Friday and he got another enema plus fluids.
So far so good - he has been able to move his bowels. It looks like we are on a protocol of chia to keep regular, special goats milk with added probiotics, lactulose to soften and pumpkin for fiber. It is working but we will have to give him fluids every few days to help move things thru.
Thanks so much for all the suggestions and advise from those who have been there. We hope to have things working smoothly soon. The vet mentioned megacolon as something that may be going on or not. Time will tell on that one. We appreciate all the purrs and prayers for our dear boy.
We are waaay behind on our cards so expect them for New Years! The tree is up and with lights on it when Mom did that for Yoko but she has not had the heart to finish decorating it. It will be a toned down quiet holiday this year. But that is OK!
I hope things keep moving for Snowball - I am sending him lots of purrs!
ReplyDeleteAwwww Snowball, you sweetheart! We are sending you many healing purrs and hugs! Please please be ok and keep pooping!

It sounds like you have had your hands full, and we totally understand why you're having such a low-key holiday season. Lots of purrs for Snowball and for the rest of you, who must be feeling weary right now.
ReplyDeleteOh, we didn't know Snowball was having problems. :-(
ReplyDeleteLots of purrs and purrayers to him from us, and hugs to you!
Sending lots of purrs to Snowball. Hope he feels better really soon. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, snowball! We're working on the same thing with Rocky. We tried the pumpkin at first, but that didn't help and he lost weight. Now we're doing under the skin fluids at home twice a week, miralax in his food, and a little lax air twice a week. That's helping A LOT! He's moving a long great. Let us know if you want any advice. MomFOD's been doing a lot of research on it. She makes Rocky a special soup for food every day and that includes goat's milk with probiotics!
ReplyDeleteSending comforting purrs to Snowball with hope that they help! PURRS....

We are so glad those remedies have worked for Snowball. I added slippery elm syrup, pumpkin and some organic flax to Abby's food to keep her bowels moving normally and it worked up unit, she flew to the RB. Hardest thing was the first meal I didn't have to do all of that or make up the slippery elm syrup anymore. What I'd give to still be doing it.
ReplyDeleteKeeping all of you in our thoughts.
Sending purrs for gentle movements for Snowball!
ReplyDeleteSnowball is such a handsome mancat. I'm purring that his problem will be healed soon.
ReplyDeleteWe're glad Snowball is doing better. Let's hope those trains keep running on time! ;)
ReplyDeleteSnowball, we're purring your trains keep leaving the station in a timely manner! When Felix gets corked up Mommy gives him 1/8 tsp Miralax in tuna juice, it helps keep water in his colon to help him go chuggin' along. She did this for a couple of months until he was back on track and no problems since.
ReplyDeleteSending purrs for things to keep moving for Snowball.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a handsome dude Snowball! Purrs to you from all of us. I have an awful problem with constipation and the only thing that works for me is Royal Canin Fiber Response. It was a miracle for me.
ReplyDeleteWe hope Snowball will feel much better soon. We understand the low key holiday.
ReplyDeleteKiss kiss for Mr. Snowball. :) xoxoxoxo

ReplyDeletePurrs for Snowball. Skootch had that problem for several years. As soon as Mom bought the industrial size lactulose for him, he got the OPPOSITE problem (we think it was the arrival of the kittehs).
